Disc Problems : Herniated, Bulging, Protruding, Swollen

Very often when a doctor or other health professional looks at an MRI or X-ray of a spine, they see a bulging, herniated or damaged disc and equate that with the cause of the pain. While we are in no way disregarding the idea that disc damage can cause pain and disfunction, the fact is that many people live perfectly healthy and pain free lives with damaged discs.

Breathlessess / Shortness of Breath

Chronically contracted muscles of the abdomen, chest, back, and waist can easily restrict the inhalation and exhalation of breath. There is a complicated and beautifully orchestrated pattern of muscular coordination between the diaphragm, the abdominal muscles, the chest, neck, and shoulder muscles, the muscles between the ribs, as well as the back and waist muscles that must occur in order to enable deep and easy breathing.

Frozen Shoulder / Adhesive Capsulitis

Sometimes interchanged with the term "frozen shoulder", adhesive capsulitis is the adhesion of the joint capsule to the bones of the shoulder joint. While this condition may cause scarring or other degradation of tissues of the shoulder, Clinical Somatics can help to restore the movement of the shoulder in a safe, non-invasive, and gentle way that allows for mobility and healing of the joint with long-lasting results. Most importantly, Somatics can address the functional issues that led to the condition to begin with, and prevent it from happening again.

Dizziness

There is a very intricate relationship between the movement of the eyes, the balancing organs of the inner ear, the musculature of the entire skeleton, the proprioceptive sense organs of the body, and the brain centers that equate and manage all of these factors.
