Hamstring Pulls and Tension

The hamstrings are a very mysterious place for most people, not an area where we have a huge amount of sensation or proprioception. Hamstring tension, tears and pulls are very common, especially in athletes.

As with many conditions, we assess a client's full body patterns of function. Generally with hamstring tension, we can elp a client earn to relieve tension that is "stuck" in the low back, buttocks, hamstrings, calves, etc, in order to allow more free movement and less potential for injury of the hamstring. As always, when all of the muscles around an area are functioning properly, the specific muscles we are discussing have less tendency toward injury.

We would also help a client learn to specifically release and reverse tension in the hamstrings, and to integrate the movements of the hamstrings with the movement of the quadriceps, and all of the other muscles that relate.
