Somatic Exercises For Runners, Dancers, Athletes Part 2: June 13, 2009 (12:00 - 2:30PM)

Due to the success of the last Athlete workshop we had here at the Institute, we felt the need for another one! This is a perfect follow up to the last workshop in April. More sport specific exercises will be taught and Jon's entire 15 min warm up sequence will be the focus.

Didn't come last time? Don't worry! We will still be working with beginning Somatic exercises that do not need the foundation of the first workshop. Come stop in and learn how to improve your game, reduce injury and become more aware of your body.

Learn to free up your whole body for more efficient and graceful movement. Learn to find and use your body's natural shock absorbing systems in order to prevent knee, foot, hip, and back injury. Get a whole new way to approach warm-up and stretching that is safer and more effective than traditional stretching. Improve natural breathing and muscular coordination.

This class will also present a style of warm-up and cool-down that helps to prevent injury, calm the nerves, get the mind in the body, increase concentration, and improve your coordination, flexibility and functional strength.

Also, learn a simple 5-10 second exercise that will help you recover immediately from lapses in concentration and regain your focus!
