Somatics for Healthy Shoulders, Neck, Back & Posture - Oct 28 - Dec 9, 2010 - 6-Week Class

Do your shoulders and back ache from long hours at the computer? Do you get a tight sore neck or tension headaches? Do your hips and back hurt at the end of a long day?

This series of six classes will address a variety of postural imbalances that cause chronic pain throughout the body, with a special focus on upper body issues. Through gentle movements and increased internal awareness, class participants will gradually acquire an array of tools for effective self-care.

This is the first class of an 8-week series that teaches you to release unconsciously held muscles beginning at the core of the body out to the periphery.This class will introduce some basics of Somatics, and begin with the core exercises for addressing pain, injury, and inflexibility in the back and core — along with key exercises for obtaining the benefits of Somatics throughout your entire body.

Comprised of 8 individual lessons, teaching you to release unconsciously held muscles beginning at the core of the body out to the periphery. You will also learn the "Daily Somatic Essentials", a sequence of exercises that can be done anytime, anywhere, in as little as 5 minutes, in order to maintain better flexibility, coordination, and balance, resulting in a decrease of the aches and pains commonly attributed to injury and aging.

Somatics 101 is a series of 8 individual Somatics movement exploration lessons, which teach you to release unconsciously held muscles throughout the whole body. The series methodically works from the core outward- freeing the back, abdomen, waist, hips, shoulders, neck, breathing and walking.

This series is comprised of 8 individual lessons, teaching you to greatly increase awareness of and to release unconsciously held muscles beginning at the core of the body out to the periphery. You will also learn the "Daily Somatic Essentials", a sequence of exercises that can be done anytime, anywhere, in as little as 5 minutes, in order to maintain better flexibility, coordination, energy, welllness, and balance, resulting in a decrease of the aches and pains commonly attributed to injury and aging. Because this is a progressive class, please make every effort to attend all the classes.

Somatic Exercises to Eliminate Back Pain: March 29, 2008

Participants in this class will learn the most simple, elegant, and sure-fire way to end back pain, deal with issues around disc problems, scoliosis, sciatica and others, and to improve comfort while walking, sitting, standing, or moving. A must-do for anyone interested in feeling better and aging well. This class draws on Somatic Essentials 1-4 and Thomas Hanna's "The Myth of Aging" 1-4 (as shown in the book Somatics. $35 pre-paid, $45 day of.
