The Whole Back - Somatic Drop In Class Focus for April 23, 2009

Are you new to Somatics or have you taken classes with us before? If your answer is yes to either of those questions then this class is for you! We have designed this brand new class with both beginning or advanced students in mind. This is a great way to: take your practice deeper, customize your routines, learn new movements for different areas of the body that can be done sitting, standing, and on the floor bring in your concerns and get individual attention and instruction. Each week we will focus on different areas and will take time to address individual concerns.

SSI's Next Professional Training Program Starts in June! Become Certified Today!

Somatic Systems Institute is excited to announce the dates for the next Clinical Somatic Education Professional Training Program in Northampton, MA! This three-semester, 500-hour class will follow a nine-day, modular schedule. Class will meet twice per semester for nine days at a time.  The dates for the first semester are Saturday, June 20 - Sunday, June 28, 2009, and Saturday, September 19 - Sunday, September 27, 2009.

Somatics 101 - 8 Classes Starting 3/25/09

8 Wednesday Evenings, 6:30-7:30 PM. This series is comprised of 8 individual lessons, teaching you to release unconsciously held muscles beginning at the core of the body out to the periphery. You will also learn the "Daily Somatic Essentials", a sequence of exercises that can be done anytime, anywhere, in as little as 5 minutes, in order to maintain better flexibility, coordination, and balance, resulting in a decrease of the aches and pains commonly attributed to injury and aging. Clinical Somatics Free Clinic

Free Somatics clinic available to the public, one day only, Saturday, January 31, 2009. If you have wanted to try Clinical Somatics or have any chronic pain, postural issues, or discomfort that you would like to try to approach from a different way, now is a good chance! This is also very helpful for dancers, athletes, or those engaged in other wellness practices to enhance those experiences.

A Special Series of Somatic Exercise Workshops in Boulder, CO at The Shambhala Center The Somatics teachings of Thomas Hanna PhD with guest teachers Jon Aronstein from Somatic Systems Institute and Mary Ann Voorhies These classes are appropriate for beginners to advanced practitioners, dancers as well as those who can barely move. The challenge of the movements is internal, so a simple movement can be approached in different ways by different people. Somatic exercises are slow, gentle and pain-free. They bring about great improvements in flexibility, coordination, bodily awareness, athletic performance, posture, chronic pain, injury, stress-management, and embodiment.
