Karen Hewitt is a certified Somatic Educator trained in the first program ever conducted by Thomas Hanna. She was the first Training Coordinator of the training program after Thomas Hanna. She has an extensive and distinguished background in classroom education, professional training, corporate training, and mathematics education. Karen is a founder and senior member of the Somatics Board of Accreditation, the international organization responsible for licensing and certifying Somatics programs and practitioners. Karen is a founding and Charter member of the Clinical Somatic Education Society, and has been in private practice in San Jose, California since 1990. Read more about Karen Hewitt

In addition to being a Clinical Somatic Educator, Dave Bilyeu has been a life-long martial artist, starting in judo at the age of 6, then migrating into other traditional martial arts, and then Chinese arts in the late 60s. Sifu Dave holds a variety of black belt ranks including some high level rankings in Chinese arts. Sifu Dave founded Nei Gung Chuan Fa “Internal Fist Way” which is a martial art focused on the hidden potential of internal connection in all martial arts. Read more about David Bilyeu

As my life, body experiences and body needs have shifted throughout the years, my training has delved deeper to include Therapeutic Yoga, movement focused childbirth education, Somatics and Trauma-Informed Resilience Practices.

My personal practice and approach to teaching has changed over the years as well. I’ve slowed down – which allows me to turn off the auto-pilot switch and learn to pause, notice and listen in new ways.  The continual practice helps me notice when I push too hard and helps me remember that there’s strength in softness. Kim attended Smith college where she studied Psychology, Neuroscience, and Gender Development. She is a member of the Clinical Somatic Education class of 2007.

Areas of special interest include: working with children and individuals with neurological complications or conditions. She has also worked closely with members of the GLBT community. Read more about Kim Saumell

In addition to being a Certified Clinical Somatic Educator graduate of Somatic Systems Institute, Theresa Evans holds a BSN in Nursing. In 2006, Theresa received her 300 hour Yoga Teacher Training with a focus in Critical Alignment Yoga Therapy. Theresa went on to study further with Gert van Leeuwin, and was Certified in all IV Levels of Critical Alignment Yoga Therapy. In 2009, Theresa completed her 500 hour Yoga Certification in the tradition of the Himalayan Institute at Yoga North in Duluth, MN. Read more about Theresa Evans
