Is It Just Me, or Is AirPlay Super Inconsistent on Some TVs?

Ooka Jaja's picture

Okay, is anyone else getting weird behavior with AirPlay on their TV? I’ve got a TCL set in my bedroom and half the time my iPhone won’t connect, or it connects and then randomly drops after a few minutes. The funny part is — it works just fine in the living room on the old Roku TV. I’ve tried rebooting everything and updating iOS, but no luck. I’m starting to think it’s just how some TV models handle AirPlay? Anyone else seen this?

Yeah, I’ve had similar stuff happen. My AirPlay used to be rock solid on my older Samsung, but when I switched to an LG, things started getting quirky. Sometimes the screen mirrors perfectly, other times it lags like crazy or won’t show up at all. What helped me a bit was learning different ways to pair the devices — especially when I stumbled across this guide on How to Connect iPhone to LG TV. Made me realize I wasn’t always using the most reliable method, especially with network hiccups. Maybe something similar would help with your TCL?

I’ve noticed that some TVs, even from the same brand, can behave totally differently with the same device. My brother’s setup is way smoother than mine even though we’re both on similar Wi-Fi and have almost identical phones. It really makes you realize how much those little firmware or app version differences can change the experience, even when the hardware looks the same
