Somatics 101
Monday Eves, 5:30-6:30, 8 Weeks, Starts March 8
This series is comprised of 8 individual lessons, teaching you to
release unconsciously held muscles beginning at the core of the body
out to the periphery. You will also learn the "Daily Somatic Essentials", a sequence of exercises that
can be done anytime, anywhere, in as little as 5 minutes, in order to maintain better flexibility, coordination,
and balance, resulting in a decrease of the aches and pains commonly
attributed to injury and aging. Because this is a progressive class, please make
every effort to attend all the classes. Missed classes can be made up at a later time, as we re-run this class regularly. Instructor: Kim Saumell. $90 per 8 class card, or $14 per class.

Somatic Exercises to Eliminate Back Pain
Saturday March 15, 9:30-12:30 Participants in this class will learn the most simple, elegant, and sure-fire way to end back pain, deal with issues around disc problems, scoliosis, sciatica and others, and to improve comfort while walking, sitting, standing, or moving. A must-do for anyone interested in feeling better and aging well. This class draws on Somatic Essentials 1-4 and Thomas Hanna's "The Myth of Aging" 1-4 (as shown in the book Somatics). Somatic Exercises For the Legs and Hips
Saturday March 15, 2-5 PM
Hip pain, knee pain, high arches, flat feet, and other lower body conditions are caused by movement dysfunctions of the lower body and how its movement coordinates with the whole body. Learn ways to improve functioning and decrease pain in the legs and hips. Somatic Exercises For Runners, Dancers and Athletes
Sunday April 27, 9:30-12:30
Learn to free up your whole body for more efficient and graceful movement. Learn to find and use your body's natural shock absorbing systems in order to prevent knee, foot, hip, and back injury. Get a whole new way to approach warm-up and stretching that is safer and more effective than treaditional stretching. Improve natural breathing and muscular coordination. Too much time spent at the computer, playing an instrument, working with arms and hands? A great class for those who have experienced Tendonitis, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Bursitis, Neck Pain, or any other pain or discomfort of the arms and upper body.
