Somatic Systems Institute is proud to announce the graduation and certification of the Clinical Somatic Education Professional Training Program Class of 2008 at 4:00 PM today. Graduation ceremonies are being held at the main campus in Northampton, Massachusetts.
The training students in both classes have completed three years of training and testing, and were certified as full practitioners of Clinical Somatic Education, the pain relief and neuromuscular training system offered at Somatic Systems Institute’s clinics.
Graduates of the Professional Training Program can work in clinical settings to help with chronic pain, injuries, and joint and muscle problems, as well as help athletes, dancers, and others to improve flexibility and physical strength, agility, and performance. Certification in Clinical Somatic Education also enables practitioners to work in any of Somatic Systems’ Clinic locations nationwide.
Somatic Systems' Clinical Somatics Professional Training Program™ is held in three semesters over approximately 28 months. The course consists of 500 hours of supervised in-class education with extensive interim professional support and fieldwork. In addition to instruction in the clinical methods of Clinical Somatic Education, students are trained in kinesiology, anatomy, and neurophysiology, as well as musculoskeletal disorders of the trunk and vertebral column, shoulder joints, neck and jaw, arms, and the hip joints and legs.

About Somatic Systems Institute
Somatic Systems Institute is headquartered in Northampton, Massachusetts. Somatics uses a technique called Clinical Somatics™. Somatics trains and certifies clinical practitioners on how to reeducate a client's muscles and recalibrate overused or injured muscles through a simple series of training sessions and prescribed at-home movements. The Clinical Somatics™ process uses a series of movements (lasting as little as five minutes a day) that lengthen muscles back to their natural, relaxed state.
