Somatic Systems, Inc. Wraps Filming on First Somatics Exercise Video Product

NORTHAMPTON, MA — (Marketwire - January 14, 2009) — Somatic Systems, Inc. (SMAS - news) is pleased to announce that it has completed filming the first Somatic Exercise video product for retail sale. Final production is currently underway and the video is expected to be released next month.

The video is aimed at all mainstream consumers looking for relief from the chronic aches and pains experienced by 90% of Americans, as well as those with more acute problems ranging from lower back pain to shoulder and neck problems and tension headaches. The video is also a first step for anyone looking to improve flexibility, posture, and comfort in sitting for long hours.

The video, tentatively titled "Somatics Express," has been carefully sequenced to provide initial relief for a wide variety of conditions with a short, simple routine less than 30 minutes long. Typical course of treatment with a Clinical Somatics practitioner for chronic pains and injury is much faster than other methods such as physical therapy or chiropractic, but still generally requires approximately between 2 and 10 one-hour-long visits; and those performing Somatics Exercises in their own home may need to perform several hours of exercises for complete relief. The "Somatics Express" video is meant to give people a first "treatment" of the powerful Somatics work in the least possible time, to give them benefits with minimum commitment.

The short video, with an expected retail price of $19.95, will enable a broad audience of consumers to experience the dramatic and unprecedented value of Somatics. Somatic Systems expects "Somatics Express" to significantly expand the market for its proprietary pain relief treatments and self-help exercises. Until now, consumers might need to travel long distances to a clinic to try Somatics; self-help exercises were only available via books and other mediums that were not as appealing or comforting to the average consumer. With "Somatics Express," the typical consumer can be introduced to Somatics quickly and affordably, and thus decide to pursue Somatic Systems' lengthier and more expensive Somatics treatment options to obtain maximum relief from their nagging or debilitating musculoskeletal complaints.

Plans are currently underway for aggressive national and international promotion of the "Somatics Express" video, with a range of infomercials and other media exposure being evaluated.

Chronic pain is a $90 billion industry, with over 75 million Americans suffering from chronic pain. Clinical Somatics specializes in treating most forms of pain more quickly and with longer-lasting results than other treatment options.

Health and fitness exercise video sales total almost $200 million annually, with individual yoga and pilates videos selling 500 million units or more. Clinical Somatics generally provides more effective gains in flexibility, posture, and stress management than yoga & pilates, with virtually no risk of the injuries sometimes incurred by yoga or pilates. Additionally, Somatic Exercises can be done by any person of any fitness level or age, with no complicated postures to learn. The "Somatics Express" video can be presented similar to yoga and stretching self-help videos, but simultaneously as a health-care product for chronic pain relief. The company expects this unique position of its product to be very desirable to consumers.
