SMAS - news) is pleased to announce that the Company has graduated the second class from its Somatic Systems Institute's Professional Training Program. The class graduated on June 30, 2006 and consisted of graduates from New York, Pennsylvania, and England. Some of the graduates are expected to begin practicing at Somatic Systems' new Manhattan facility.
Somatics Systems, Inc. (Certified Graduates of the Somatic Systems Institute program automatically become certified members of the Clinical Somatic Education Society. Their names will be listed in the official roster of certified practitioners provided to the public.
Certified members have the full support of the Society, which develops, researches, and sponsors Clinical Somatics resources, courses, standards, etc. to support its members in benefiting the public and promoting public welfare. Certified graduates are life-long alumni of the Somatic Systems Institute, entitled to participate in a variety of support, internships, marketing, and co-marketing programs operated by the Institute.

The program is conducted in three semesters, with the first semester concentrating on the somatic functional problems of the trunk and vertebral column including lectures on kinesiology and the phenomenon of sensory-motor amnesia. The second semester focuses on somatic functional problems of the shoulder joints, arms, and of the hip joints and legs, as well as the role of neurophysiology in chronic pain and muscle tension. The third semester is devoted to expanding the clinical skills of the students, including dealing with advanced disorders, and deepening their understanding of neurophysiology. The three semesters constitute 300 hours of supervised in-class education, and extensive interim professional support and fieldwork.
