As my life, body experiences and body needs have shifted throughout the years, my training has delved deeper to include Therapeutic Yoga, movement focused childbirth education, Somatics and Trauma-Informed Resilience Practices.
My personal practice and approach to teaching has changed over the years as well. I’ve slowed down – which allows me to turn off the auto-pilot switch and learn to pause, notice and listen in new ways. The continual practice helps me notice when I push too hard and helps me remember that there’s strength in softness.
I’ve become intrigued at all the layers that impact our experience of living in our body and interacting with the people and world around us. Currently, it’s neuroscience and neurobiology that is fascinating me.
As someone who loves to learn new things – my group classes, workshops and private client sessions are all about experiential learning – providing students and clients with the foundational framework to help themselves move toward a softer, more easeful approach to life.
My work with prenatal folks and couples – as they prepare for labor, birth, postpartum and parenthood – is infused with a unique, holistic and highly individualized focus. I weave together experiential learning (movement & breath practices, recognizing fear responses and habits around pain, nurturing connection and the importance of feeling safe, etc) with physiological education (the nuts and bolts of what’s happening during labor and birth).
