The Great Outdoors, Inc. Appoints Former Legato Systems Executive as Vice President of Marketing

LAS VEGAS, NV -- (MARKET WIRE) -- August 17, 2006 -- The Great Outdoors, Inc. (GTDR - news) announced today that its wholly owned subsidiary, Somatic Systems Institute, Inc., has appointed Katherine Kerber as the Company's Vice President of Marketing. Ms. Kerber will utilize her experience to improve and increase awareness of Somatics System Institute and its Total Somatics™ system.

Katherine Kerber formerly worked for Palindrome and was instrumental in making them the number two company in the network backup market in only two years, resulting in its successful sale to Seagate Technology. Ms. Kerber was then recruited to help Legato Systems take a leading position in that same market and helped the company launch the most successful technology IPO, at the time, in the history of Silicon Valley. As the VP Marketing for MarketFusion, Ms. Kerber and her team developed and launched a web-based application to facilitate the management of complex projects/relationships between commodity management teams in the U.S. and their suppliers and business partners overseas. Ms. Kerber received her B.A. degree in Rhetoric at the University of Illinois at Urbana.

"The addition of Katherine Kerber to Somatic Systems™ underscores the company's long-term commitment to increase our Somatic Systems™ brand recognition across the country. She brings to our company an impressive history of taking important but unfamiliar technologies -- and developing consumer understanding, confidence, and excitement. This will be invaluable to us as we spread our Total Somatics™ pain management technique nationwide," says Steven Aronstein, CEO of The Great Outdoors, Inc.

The Great Outdoors, Inc. recently announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Somatic Systems Institute, Inc., is preparing to open a new Total Somatics™ treatment center at 89 Franklin Street, between Broadway and Church Street, in the Tribeca section of New York City, New York. The Company expects to open the facility September 2006, with other locations currently being evaluated.

The Great Outdoors, Inc. will soon be changing their name to Somatic Systems, Inc. and will also be filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission to obtain a new ticker symbol.

Total Somatics™ is a technique which combats unnecessary muscular contraction and its associated pain, often resulting from traumatic injury or chronic stress. Total Somatics™ uses a series of movements (lasting as little as five minutes a day) that lengthen muscles back to their natural, relaxed state.
