Somatics is the preferred way to lengthen your muscles for maximum flexibility. In fact, it's the only safe and reliable way we've found to do so. Conventional stretching and even most of the newer stretching alternatives have a limited effect, and can increase your risk of injury. In fact, studies have shown that athletes that stretch increased their injury rate over those who don’t. On the other hand, with Clinical Somatics stretches, you don't just avoid injury, you actually fix the underlying physiological state that required the stretching in the first place.
Many headaches, including tension, sinus, and migraine types, are alleviated through Clinical Somatics by the lessening of habituated muscular tension of the neck and jaw muscles, shoulders, and back.
Tension in the neck can cause great pressure on the connective tissue around the skull, as well as the blood pressure sensors, vascular system, and nerves that innervate the head and neck.
