On the soccer field
Yep, last summer I had the fortune of lying down on the floor for three hours everyday, for three weeks prior to the 2008 Unites States Amateur Soccer Association Veteran's Cup.
Instead of stretching, lifting weights, drinking beer, running, I opted to do the above mentioned routine of Somatics.
9 games in 5 days, 1 in overtime, and two silver medals later. I easily walked away from the over 40 and over 45 catergories with a grin...
... throughout the week the PT tent was full, and the massage therapists were on the sidelines working with various players... if only they knew...
They could have been on their back, sides and fronts and easily prepared themself.
And while I did receive a nice heads-on collision with a fellow competitor during one of the two finals on the same day, back to back. It only took a few days of work to take the shock out of the system.
So if you're kickin' it, there's a whole new to play.
Skiers watch out... I've just worked with a snow sports department and if you love to ski... Somatics will just help you dance over the snowflakes with such ease... and yes I see we're getting some more snow tonight... Heaven is here and you can always feel the delight in using yourself in rough and not so tumbling ways...
If you fall... who cares... you can pandicualte it later and go the very next day... I'm just sayin'...

Hey Ed- I am right there
Hey Ed-
I am right there with you...... playing a lot of Tennis and watching how much people injure themselves and have so much limitation to their ability due to SMA etc.....
This summer I am teaching tennis to kids 5-10 yrs old, and you better believe I will be sneaking in practices of internal sensing and other Somatic practices. I am looking forward to trying to develop some programs for athletes to learn this stuff as an integral part of their early training.
I have developed a routine that can be done all in a standing position that people can do as a 15 minute warm-up while their buddies tug and pull on their muscles in vain, I am sure you have your own similar things as well, in addition to the "standards". Love to share. Lets chat about this some more......
